NEBRASKA JAZZ ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES 2009 YOUNG LIONS ALL-STAR BAND

Lincoln, NE — The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra announces the musicians selected for the 2009 Young Lions All-Star Band. Musicians selected for the band receive the opportunity to perform with some of the finest jazz musicians in Nebraska. They will perform in concert with the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra and world-renowned woodwind composer, arranger and performer Mike Tomaro on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln, NE. The Young Lions All-Star Band will be coached and directed by Nebraska Jazz Orchestra Music Director Ed Love.

The 2009 Young Lions All-Star Band is comprised of the following young, talented musicians from across Nebraska:

Saxophones:
John Borstelmann (alto saxophone) - Lincoln Southeast High School
Kyle Cartwright (alto saxophone) - Lincoln High School
Elektra Wrenholt (tenor saxophone) - University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Hendrik Viljoen (tenor saxophone) - Lincoln Southeast High School
Cameron Blazek (baritone saxophone) - University of Nebraska at Omaha

Trombones:
Tim Madvig - Lincoln Southeast High School
Andrew Brown - University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Paul Dorenbach - Lincoln Southeast High School

Trumpets:
Taylor Cobb - Lincoln North Star High School
Nathan Jones - Lincoln Southwest High School
Ramsey Jaber - Lincoln North Star High School
Frank Stroup– Pius X High School
Rhythm:
Ryan Stewart (guitar) - Lincoln East High School
