| Nebraska Jazz Orchestra presents: Christmas & All That Jazz Thursday, December 20, 2007 7:30 PM Embassy Suites, 1040 P Street Celebrate the holidays with the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra as it continues its 2007-2008 series of events with special guest and Nebraska native, vocalist Susie Thorne. Let the NJO and the captivating vocals of Susie Thorne inspire the holiday mood during this annual concert of seasonal favorites. This concert is sponsored by Farm Bureau and Lincoln Benefit Life. The 2007-2008 Nebraska Jazz Orchestra season sponsor is Nebraska Diamond. The concert will be held Thursday, December 20, 2007, at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1040 P Street in Lincoln, Nebraska at 7:30 p.m. Priority seating for season ticket holders and Jazz Club members is at 7:00 p.m., with general admission seating beginning at 7:15 p.m. Single admission tickets are $20 for Adults, $17 for Seniors and $10 for Students and may be purchased by contacting the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra business office at (402) 477-8446. Season tickets are also available for purchase. A pre-concert dinner will be held at the Embassy Suites for a cost of $22 per person. Join music director, Ed Love and special guest, Susie Thorne , where you will be treated to discussion about the musical highlights of the evening's concert and a wonderful meal. Susie Thorne studied piano performance at the University of Colorado at Denver and vocal performance at the Academy of Vocal Arts. She has toured the United States as lead vocalist in a Rhythm and Blues band and also traveled overseas where she entertained fans as a solo pianist/vocalist on tour through Europe and Asia. While performing in Japan and Hong Kong, she studied jazz with other American jazz artists on tour. Now living in Omaha, Nebraska, Susie continues her musical studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she concentrates on classical voice with Wendy Eaton, and has performed as a vocalist with the UNO Jazz Band. She has also studied jazz vocal techniques privately with Jennifer Shelton-Barnes and jazz piano with Christine Hitt. Her first CD, "Love for Sale" was released in 2000 and greeted with critical acclaim, winning her comparisons to the vocal stylings of such legendary performers as a young Eartha Kitt. |
