CHRISTMAS & ALL THAT JAZZ WITH THE NEBRASKA JAZZ ORCHESTRA Contact: Arts Incorporated, 402-477-8446 Let the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra and MAXJAZZ star vocalist Christine Hitt get you in the holiday mood during the annual Christmas & All That Jazz concert full of seasonal favorites. Generous support for the Christmas & All That Jazz concert is provided by concert sponsors Farm Bureau Services Inc. and Lincoln Benefit Life. The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra thanks Nebraska Diamond for its generous support of the year-round activities of the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra. The concert will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1040 P Street in Lincoln, Nebraska at 7:30 p.m. Priority seating for season ticket holders and Jazz Club members is at 7:00 p.m., with general admission seating beginning at 7:15 p.m. Single admission tickets are $20 for Adults, $17 for Seniors and $10 for Students and may be purchased by contacting the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra business office at (402) 477-8446. Season tickets for the remainder of the 2006-2007 season are available for purchase at a pro-rated prices: $75 Adults, $63 Seniors, $33 Students. A pre-concert dinner will be held before the concert at the Embassy Suites at a cost of $22 per person. At dinner you will joined by music director, Ed Love and treated to discussion about the musical highlights of the evening’s concert. Originally from Duluth, Minnesota, Christine Hitt started recording as a jingle singer while finishing her Master’s degree in piano performance at the University of Arizona. After moving to St. Louis, Hitt began playing with bassist Tom Kennedy. She has performed with Jeff Hamilton, Nick Brignola, Slide Hampton, Harry Allen, Steve Smith and opened for Tower of Power. Hitt has also recorded at Universal Studios and toured South America with the US Air Force Band. As an artist on the MAXJAZZ label, her 1999 release entitled You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To has received international airplay. The 2001 MAXJAZZ Holiday Collection features Christine’s vocals with pianist Bruce Barth and bassist Ugonna Okegwo. Hitt is a published arranger with UNC Jazz Press, a judge for the National Guild of Piano Teachers and is currently the Director of Instrumental Music at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She has taught at Washington University, Concordia College, Minnesota State University-Moorhead and North Dakota State University. Under her direction, the Webster University Jazz Singers performed at the International Association of Jazz Educator’s conference in New Orleans.
