Nebraska Jazz Orchestra: Christmas and All That Jazz

Celebrating its 25th Anniversary Season, the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra proudly announces its first concert of the 2000-2001 season with a program entitled Christmas and All That Jazz, featuring vocalist Pam Kalal.

The concert will be held at the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra’s new home, the Cornhusker Hotel, 333 13th Street, Lincoln, on Tuesday, December 5th at 7:30 p.m.  Priority seating for season ticket members only starts at 7:00-7:15, and general admission seating begins at 7:15 for tickets purchased at the door.

General admission tickets may be purchased at the concert or ordered in advance by contacting the business office at Arts Incorporated, (402) 477-8446, 216 North 11th Street, Suite 202 in Lincoln, NE, 68508-1401. Tickets purchased at the door are:  $7 for students, $12 for senior citizens, and $15 for adults.

Guest Vocalist Pam Kalal, along with her husband, Jim, has been performing in the Omaha area with their seven-piece dance/show band for the last nine years. The band “Pam and the Pearls” play primarily for social and corporate events.  Pam and Jim Kalal have been singing together since 1976, when they met and performed with the Firehouse Brigade at the Firehouse Dinner Theater.  They have performed on hundreds of radio and television commercial jingles (local, regional and national) and have sung background vocals on recordings for the Mannheim Steamroller and C.W. McCall.  They also were in Branson, Missouri recently, where they each had their own television show on the Americana Television Network

Some of the selections The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra will be featuring include: “Little Drummer Boy” and “Sister Sadie” arranged by Peter Bouffard, “Bring A Torch” arranged by Mark Benson, and “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson.  With Guest Vocalist Pam Kalal, they include “The Nearness Of You,” “The Christmas Song,” “New York, New York,” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”
