Nebraska Jazz Orchestra to present holiday concert with guests Ken Hoyne & Cory Biggerstaff
Jazz up your Christmas when you join the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra this holiday season for Christmas & All
That Jazz, featuring Ken Hoyne on trombone and Cory Biggerstaff on bass.
The concert will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1040 P Street in Lincoln,
Nebraska at 7:30 p.m. Priority seating for season ticket holders and Jazz Club members only is at 7:00 p.m.,
with general admission seating beginning at 7:15 p.m. Single admission tickets are $20 for Adults, $17 for
Seniors and $10 for Students and may be purchased by contacting the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra at (402) 477-
8446. Season tickets for the remainder of the 2005-2006 season are also
available for purchase at a pro-rated price.
Ken Hoyne began playing trombone at the age of ten. He studied music at the University of South Dakota
and toured extensively with national and regional bands, such as The Fabulous Flippers. He later received a
degree in accounting and settled in Omaha where he developed a passion for jazz and played with many
groups, including the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra. Mr. Hoyne resides in South Dakota where you can hear him
perform with such groups as the South Dakota Jazz Orchestra, Hip-bones, and his own trio, Bone-ified Jazz.
Cory Biggerstaff is a talented bass player and Lincoln native, now making his living playing jazz in
Chicago. Mr. Biggerstaff graduated from DePaul University where he won several awards for his
musicianship. He has also toured extensively throughout the United States including performances at the
Berklee College of Music. Cory is an alumnus of the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra.
The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra is celebrating its 30th Anniversary Season. Founded in 1975, it is one of the
Midwest’s premier big bands. Each performance this season will feature well-known NJO alumni.
