Kerry Strayer at Monday Night Big Band
Kerry Strayer, a very popular frequent Nebraska Jazz Orchestra guest artist, will be in Lincoln this coming Monday to perform with the Monday Night Big Band. Kerry will be bringing several of his own arrangements to this performance. Terry Rush is the music director for this concert.

Join the Capital Jazz Society at PO Pears, 322 South 9th, on Monday, July 2, 7:30-10:00 for this exciting jazz event. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for students with valid ID.

Kerry Strayer grew up in Fairbury, Nebraska and attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska where he completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Performance. He moved to Kansas City in 1982 to study saxophone with Professor Tim Timmons at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music where he earned a Masters Degree in Saxophone Performance.

Since that time, Kerry has been active as a band leader, recording artist and private instructor. He has released six recordings including the critically acclaimed "Jeru Blue - A Tribute to Gerry Mulligan" with Randy Brecker and "Mentor" with Gary Foster. His latest release is a big band Christmas CD, "Kerry Strayer Orchestra, Christmas in Kansas City: Music from the Plaza Lighting Ceremony" featuring Kevin Mahogany, Kelley Hunt, Lisa Henry and Ron Gutierrez. This recording celebrates Kerry's 10 years as music director of Kansas City's Plaza Lighting Ceremony.
