The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra proudly announces its second concert of the 2003-2004 season with a program entitled Christmas & All That Jazz. This concert will feature local musician Peter Bouffard on guitar. General admission tickets may be purchased at the concert or ordered in advance by contacting the business office at Arts Incorporated, (402) 477-8446, 216 North 11th Street, Suite 202 in Lincoln, NE, 68508-1401. Ticket prices are: Adults $20, Seniors $17, Students $10. A native of Vermont, Peter Bouffard has been a member of the Lincoln Public Schools instrumental music faculty since 1993 and a member of the UNL School of Music faculty since 1990. He has also served as Director of Jazz Activities for the Maine Summer Youth Music program for seventeen years. Currently a Doctoral Candidate in Jazz Studies at the New England Conservatory of Music, Peter holds a M. M. in Jazz Education from UNL, as well as an A.S. in Jazz and Contemporary Music, and a B.M.Ed. from the University of Maine. He is an active guitarist in the region where he performs for a variety of engagements. Peter has been an adjudicator, clinician, and/or director for a variety of musical events and organizations, including the Maine All-Sate Jazz Combo, the Nebraska All-Sate Jazz Band, the University of Maine Instrumental Music Institute, the Iowa IHCC Jazz Festival, and University of South Dakota Jazz Festival. A composer and arranger, his works have been commissioned for jazz ensemble, symphony orchestra, symphonic band, brass quintet, and jazz vocalists. Peter has toured as a member of the UNL Faculty Jazz Trio presenting concerts and clinics in Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Vermont. In addition, Peter has performed internationally in France, Germany, Japan, and Switzerland with the NJO and Lincoln Municipal Band. He has studied privately with John Abercrombie, Jerry Bergonzi, Gene Bertoncini, and John McNeil, and has participated in materclasses with Pat Metheny, Herb Ellis, and George Russell. Peter has performed with a number of well-known jazz artists, including Marian McPartland, Bob Brookmeyer, Michael Feinstein, and Steve Allen. Join the NJO for its annual Christmas celebration featuring guitarist Peter Bouffard. Musical selections include: Little Drummer Boy, We Three Kings, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, White Christmas, and The Christmas Song, all arranged by Peter Bouffard; O Holy Night and O Tannenbaum as arranged for Stan Kenton’s band; and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker, as arranged by Duke Ellington.
